Our volunteers include students from Cornell University, MIT, Duke University, Rochester University and Mount-Holyoke. We also have two distinguished professors from Cornell University and Research Scientists from Google.

Welcome to Code Afrique

Code Afrique, initially Ghana Hacks, is a continuing program designed for African high school and University students with interest or bias in the sciences. It is aimed at giving these students a window into the world of computer science, and its vast potential for development. The objective is to change the narrow mentality that medical school and other well-known scientific professions are the only options for science students who graduate from high school. The program also serves as an avenue for these high school students to network with students from the continent pursuing higher education and careers in Computer Science.

Kumasi Coding Bootcamp - 2020

The two-day bootcamp was held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana on 13th and 14th January 2020. Similar to the eSwatini edition, students engaged in basic Python programming lessons, and on the second day a hackathon as well as a workshop in wearable technology was organized.

Matsapha Coding Bootcamp - 2020

The two-day bootcamp was held at the IDM eSwatini in Matsapha, eSwatini on 9th and 10th January 2020. Students engaged in basic programming lessons in Python, and on the second day a hackathon as well as a workshop in wearable technology was organized.

Kumasi Coding Bootcamp - 2019

The bootcamp was held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on 10th and 11th January 2019. Students engaged in basic programming lessons and a hackathon was organized on the second day.

The event happened at Achimota Senior High School on 14th and 15th January 2019. Students engaged in basic programming lessons and a hackathon was organized on the second day.

Advanced Computer Systems Presentation - 2019

A presentation by distinguished Prof. Robbert Van Renesse was given at Ashesi in Computer Systems and Distributed Computing.

Ghana Hacks 2018 - Kumasi

Introduced about 55 students and 5 teachers to introdcutory concepts in Computer Science. Also provided mentorship for the students who wanted to pursue a career in it.

Our Strategy

In order to reach our target of increasing the availability of computer science skills in the country, we employ the following strategy.

Bootcamps & Hackathons

We organize bootcamps in different cities every year where we bring together many students and instructors to learn some basic programming skills.

Mentorship

We select mentors from distinguised companies and top educational institutions to serve as role-models for students interested in pursuing Computer Science at a higher level.

Resources & Connections

We provide resources to help students in studying further concepts in Computer Science and finding opportunities to study Computer Science.
